Cartmell Home for Aged is a not for profit, charitable organization chartered in 1953, as directed in the Will of Miss Sarah E. J. Cartmell. Miss Cartmell, born in England and a resident of Palestine, Texas since her early childhood, left instructions in her will for the establishment of the Home.

Cartmell Home began serving the Palestine Community in 1956 when it opened its original 44 bed home. Today, Cartmell Home has grown to be a community of five distinct neighborhoods, each offering their own living areas, dining rooms, sun porches and courtyards.

Hospice services are available to all residents at Cartmell Home. For those residents and families that are coping with the special needs of terminal illness, Cartmell Home works with area hospice agencies to provide palliative (comfort) care.

Activities

Windermere at Cartmell is the newest addition to our community. Windermere is a custom designed, state of the art assisted living facility, offering both Assisted Living and Memory Care services in two distinct neighborhoods.

Under the guidance of a dedicated local volunteer board of directors and professional staff, Cartmell has gained recognition as one of the finest eldercare communities in Texas.
